We arrived in Guanaja in 2008 and bonefish were the primary target. After spooking many schools of bonefish we realized our flies were too heavy. Our first breakthrough into catching big tricky bones was taking the eyes out of our Crazy Charlie’s. We used natural colors and experimented with many different wings, starting with the classsic calf tail and arriving at the more lifelike bunny fur. The pioneer of this simple breakthrough was Fly Fish Guanaja owner Steve Brown, who is half blind out of his left eye, hence the name, Blind Brownie.
